Is this deck size right for me?
Under 8 inches gives your feet less platform than a wider deck. Some skaters prefer it for flip tricks or smaller feet, but neither shoe size nor trick choice locks you into this width.
Your fit comes first. Height, shoe size, stance and riding style help you choose a starting point. Bigger feet may prefer more room; height also affects how much length and stance space feels comfortable. There is no fixed sizing rule—personal preference gets the final say.
Compare with a board you know: measure straight across its widest point, edge to edge. The width is only one part of the fit; shape and length matter too.
